SOKYO ATSUMI(Tokyo) is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Shida Kuo. This will be the first solo exhibition at SOKYO ATSUMI, following two exhibitions at Kyoto’s Sokyo Gallery (2014 and 2017). Born in Taiwan, Kuo graduated from New York University in 1992 and has taught in the Department of Art and Art Professions at NYU since 1993. Using ceramic and wood as materials, Kuo searches for forms that have an integral, pre-linguistic relationship to our bodies. Forms, as he writes, that are “repressed in our consciousness but are persistent in our veins”.
